Antique Reproduction Cabinet Lights

Soft, subtle and effective. Phantom low voltage lighting strips were used to illuminate the interior of this handsome antique cabinet. With thick glass shelves the lights were mounted vertically to achieve the desired results.Antique reproduction cabinets with glass panel doors can be a challenge to illuminate.  Closed doors trap heat, and very few light sources can burn for very long without creating a problem for decorators.  This is one of the reasons Phantom developed a new line of LED cabinet lighting fixtures specifically for the purpose of generating a completely cool source of luminance within closed spaces.  The new generation of festoon lamps features a design based around a housing that contains 6 low wattage LED’s for combined wattage of less than 1 watt per entire lamp.  This allows for display lights to be operated continuously without the risk of overheating.

Lamp technology is only the beginning of the benefits you get with Phantom cabinet lighting.  As important as light sources are, there is much more to lighting a display than heat reduction and color temperature.  Light distribution patterns have to be just right in order to evenly light both the shelves and the various objects on display.  Many antique reproductions, for example, are built with scroll cut shelving that must be lit along with the shelving interiors.  Retail grade linear strips cannot light these forward edges because they mount underneath the shelves themselves.

To overcome this obstacle, Phantom developed vertically mounted cabinet lighting strips that can be placed within the interior cabinet reveals and door frame interiors.  Various trim options are available that control the precise angle of lighting distribution, so any size cabinet can be illuminated with a gentle and uniform glow.  Phantom custom furniture lighting looks effortless and almost mysterious when viewed through the etched pains of a classic reproduction.  It is as if the light seems to spring from the air itself, with no visible fixtures in sight because the linear strips are completely concealed behind reveals and doorways.

Phantom’s cabinet lighting manufacturing facility is a build-to-order operation that takes customization one step further than this.  Cabinet interiors, particularly in the world of antiques and reproductions, are highly individualized pieces.  No two display cases are ever exactly alike.  Decorators and contractors almost never find low voltage display lighting strips that match the precise vertical dimensions of the cabinets they are intended for.  Even when a near match is discovered, decorators must then resize the strip and make adjustments to the trim in order to achieve the right angle of incidence and glare shielding necessary for a truly impeccable presentation.

Does this sound all too familiar?

If it does, you can call Phantom and tell us the dimensions of your cabinet over the phone.  With just the basic measurements of your reproduction, we can custom design a cabinet lighting system that will include ready-to-install linear strips that require no modification upon arrival. The optimum color temperature of of our energy saving LED lamps will be specifically chosen for your particular type of display, and a custom wiring plan will enable you to not only conceal the lighting fixtures, but also the wires and transformers themselves.

Phantom technology is engineered with this type of adaptability foremost in mind.  In a marketplace where furnishings are often works of art unto themselves, the generic light sources of standard linear strips simply do not do justice to the finer points of custom crafted cabinetry.  However, with Phantom LED lamps, you can begin to see your display, and its contents, in a whole new light without ever seeing the fixture.
