Decorative Accent Lights

Decorative accent lighting tools for ceilings and foyers is very important. It fills out the room with a sense of dimension by highlighting interior architecture in high places. General room lighting often misses these spots, leaving them in shadows. With custom linear strips, decorative accent lighting along ceiling coves dispels these shadows with a layer of decorative lighting that adds vertical impact to walls and dimension to the entire room.

But why use linear strips for decorative accent cove lighting? Why not use rope lighting? There are reasons for this.

Rope lights are series lights, meaning each bulb depends on the preceding bulb in the series for electrical current. When a bulb fails, every bulb past that point goes off. This creates unattractive gaps in the distribution of light. What you need instead is a contiguous glow that emanates up from the ceiling cove and ambiently bathes the upper wall and roof in a gentle wash of light.

You do not want bright spots in your decorative accent lighting. Some of the very cheap rope lights use bulbs with uncontrolled light distribution that will create visibly brighter emanations of light along the wall and ceiling. This, too, looks unattractive from an interior decor perspective in kitchen cove lighting.

Custom LED strip lighting fixtures overcome these barriers in a number of ways. The festoon lamps used by Phantom, for example, are focused by reflectors designed to even the wash of light contiguously along wall or ceiling surfaces. While there are many festoon lamps on each strip, what you end up seeing looks like light coming from a single, linear source.

Home Accent Lighting Fixtures

Phantom home accent lights have never shined brighter. Our linear lighting strips are capable of affordably powering incandescent and xenon lamps with dimmer controls that give homeowners direct control over brightness, voltage, and heat output. Custom homes have high ceilings and exquisite interior architecture. This sophistication demands linear lighting strips that are energy efficient and that minimize thermal output. Phantom linear lighting strips are ideal for these requirements. With new LED cabinet lighting, these home accent lights can be left on throughout the day and night with practically no heat or noticeable increase in power costs.

A single LED festoon lamp uses only .6 watts of power. Its heat output is less than one BTU and therefore does not heat the room enough to put extra stress on the AC. This, combined with the fact that LEDs by nature use 60 percent less energy than other light sources, makes the cost effectiveness of Phantom technology readily apparent.

Keep in mind too, please, that other LED cove lights on the market never produce more than 10 lumens of light output per lamp. Our new festoon design, however, combines 6 LEDs into a single lamp to produce a combined lumens output of over 40. Fine art lighting is the most demanding kind of home accent lighting that requires specialize equipment to do effectively.
