Decorative Accent Lights

Decorative accent lighting tools for ceilings and foyers is very important. It fills out the room with a sense of dimension by highlighting interior architecture in high places. General room lighting often misses these spots, leaving them in shadows. With custom linear strips, decorative accent lighting along ceiling coves dispels these shadows with a layer of decorative lighting that adds vertical impact to walls and dimension to the entire room.

But why use linear strips for decorative accent cove lighting? Why not use rope lighting? There are reasons for this.

Rope lights are series lights, meaning each bulb depends on the preceding bulb in the series for electrical current. When a bulb fails, every bulb past that point goes off. This creates unattractive gaps in the distribution of light. What you need instead is a contiguous glow that emanates up from the ceiling cove and ambiently bathes the upper wall and roof in a gentle wash of light.

You do not want bright spots in your decorative accent lighting. Some of the very cheap rope lights use bulbs with uncontrolled light distribution that will create visibly brighter emanations of light along the wall and ceiling. This, too, looks unattractive from an interior decor perspective in kitchen cove lighting.

Custom LED strip lighting fixtures overcome these barriers in a number of ways. The festoon lamps used by Phantom, for example, are focused by reflectors designed to even the wash of light contiguously along wall or ceiling surfaces. While there are many festoon lamps on each strip, what you end up seeing looks like light coming from a single, linear source.

Our engineers have developed our custom decorative accent lighting technology to such a fine level of precision that you do not even see the linear strips themselves. It literally looks like light is coming out of the top of your ceiling cove from a mysterious, unseen source.

In the residential world, our luxury lighting products are used in custom home living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and foyer entrances. Low voltage dimmers allow these lights to be lowered and raised at homeowner will so multiple moods for different occasions can be established by adjusting a few simple controls.

In the commercial world, restaurants, hotels, and casinos are using Phantom cove lights to fill large rooms with a sense of life, décor, vibrancy, and radiant light. These applications are highly cost effective thanks to Phantom Lighting’s LED festoon technology. Now operating at only .6 watt per festoon, a Phantom LED strip light represents virtually no additional costs to an establishment’s lighting budge and practically no radiant heat output.

Decorative Accent Lighting

You must do more with your expensive collection of fine art than just make it visible. You must illuminate it with decorative home accent lighting that will support the tone of the piece without clashing with its expressiveness in any way. This is not easy to do for do-it-yourselfers even if they do stumble upon the right type of art projector lighting fixtures.

Too much light tends to flatten a painting’s sense of perspective and wash out its colors. Too little light, on the other hand, makes the whole picture look gloomy. Too tight light will shine like tunnel vision on the center of the painting only. Too much light splashes onto the wall.

None of this is good.

What is needed instead for fine art displays is a source of decorative accent lighting that can be aimed from precisely the right angle and fine-tuned to illuminate the entirety of the painting, yet stay within the borders of the frame. You need a recessed picture light that will emphasize the relationship of light and shadow that the artist intended for the work to portray. You must also make sure that the light draws attention only to the painting and not to itself or to its mechanical source.

Unfortunately, there are many manufacturers of decorative accent art lighting fixtures that often seem oblivious to the need to fulfill all of these client desires with a single piece of equipment. They seem to prefer to specialize in meeting one or two of these desires, but hesitant to meet them all. Perhaps this is a reflection of our contemporary society’s fascination with micro-management and overspecialization. No matter. As art lighting experts, it's not the way we operate at Phantom.

What we do is combine precision technology that targets specific needs with a multi-dimensional platform that can deliver the anticipated results. This, in a nutshell, is the guiding force behind the engineering of a Phantom Contour Projector.

Available in five basic models suitable to any type of commercial or residential art lighting environment, every Phantom Contour Projector is further customized at the time of installation to the specific ceiling, room, and work of art it lights. We can even adjust it to create the supple and complex interplay of light and shadow necessary for lighting sculpture - a job that normally requires many different types of fixtures and more than just a few lamps or accent lighting tools to pull off.

The Contour Projector is filtered and easy to adjust - making it both safe and adaptable. Finally, the Contour Projector is a professional lighting fixture you won’t see it hugging the contour of your ceiling, and you won’t notice the light beam until it reaches your painting and gives off that magic lighted from within effect that is unique even to the world of luxury lighting.

All things considered, it is easy to see why our motto has always been, See the Light, Not the Fixture.
