Cabinet strip lights also provide jewelry displays with a versatility of lamping options and light levels that can be fine-tuned to fully accent the visual qualities of both the type and substance of jewelry on display. Different bulbs create different types of light, and the choice of which type of lamp to install in your linear strip depends greatly on the size of your showcase, the type of jewelry you are displaying, and the color of the background you use.
Jewelry display lights require heavy glare shielding that will angle the light toward the merchandise and reflect only enough light back into the eyes to make it sparkle. The remainder of the light should evenly “wash” over the surface of metal and gemstones, showcasing contours, cuts, and any engravings over the surface.
The more three-dimensional its appearance is, the more valuable a piece of jewelry appears to the eye. Too much accent lighting will flatten the appearance of gold, diamonds, and silver pieces by casting startling “white” spots on their surfaces. Too little light, on the other hand, will fail to add the necessary sparkle that is essential to high-ticket merchandising.
For these reasons, it is almost always best to use a low-voltage linear lighting strip that has user-friendly dimmer controls that will allow you to adjust your jewelry display lights to the precise level necessary to showcase a given piece or collection of items. One advantage this offers you is the ability to use the same show case for different pieces on a rotating basis and simply turn the lights up or down when you set up a new display.
Low voltage lighting systems are also a great power saver that help will minimize your overhead. Especially if you are own a small, family store, cost effective lighting can make your facility look high-end and one of a kind without the burden of high expenditures.
As for the actual bulb types used in jewelry display lighting, much of your choice depends on the style and colors of the items on display. Fluorescent lights, long-valued for their power saving value, are used much less than they were in the past. Other forms of low voltage lighting have become competitive with fluorescent in terms of reduced power costs, and these other bulb types tend to produce better types of lighting as well. High-ticket merchandise generally requires a light source more appropriate to its dimensions and color than fluorescent is normally able to deliver.
Pearls, silver, and light colored jewelry such as opal look exquisite under incandescent lamps that bring out the whites, off whites, and the glint of 14K gold. For warmer colors like those seen in an emerald or sapphire, a more robust light source makes for an even better source of jewelry display lighting. Either low voltage xenon lighting, which cast something of a “golden” aura around the subject, or specialty LED strip lights available in a multitude of colors will enhance both the darker colors and multi-dimensional appearance of exquisitely cut, rare jewelry.

Phantom LED lamps are designed as the ultimate technological replacement of incandescent and Xenon festoon lamps.
What are some power-saving benefits of Phantom LED lamp technology?Phantom LED lamps produce far less heat than other light sources and provide a tremendously longer lamp life than their incandescent and Xenon festoon lamp counterparts. Clients with sensitive materials will find an even greater value in the cool burning temperatures of LED lamps. Phantom LED lamps are also extremely versatile and can be used for custom cove lighting, under cabinet lighting, sensitive and/or high-end display lighting, and any other high performance linear strip lighting project.
What wattage low voltage festoon lamps are Phantom LED's designed to replace?
Our LED lamps have been designed as the ultimate technological replacement of 5 to 7 watt incandescent and Xenon festoons. In California, legislation has already mandated incandescent light bulb replacement by 2010, and other states may soon follow suit with similar laws of their own. In the meantime, commercial clients may serve themselves now by investing in Phantom low voltage LED lamps to obtain LEEDS certification in their respective industries. Requiring only 1.7 watts of energy, the Phantom LED lamp will operate on 12V AC and is completely dimmable. This gives it market versatility from a lighting designer’s perspective.
How can Phantom LED festoon lamps be used in residential applications?
Residential clients consistently praise Phantom Strip Lights as the best source of linear strip illumination they have ever utilized to adorn collectible displays, coves in vaulted ceilings, rare books and ornate shelving, and even certain forms of antique furniture. Each Phantom LED lamp in actuality consists of three ½ watt, tight color binning LED’s with a CRI of approximately 80. The combined, resulting output is 45-50 lumens depending on color temperature.
How much heat is created by Phantom LED lamps?
Sensitive objects are perfectly safe when illuminated with Phantom LED lamps, so displays may be left on for extended hours without risk of overheating. This is because Phantom technology is amazingly self-contained. A ribbed thermal design dissipates heat on the backside of the circuit. This not only prevents forward radiation of heat, it also produces the superior conductivity necessary to produce high lumens of output at extremely low wattage.
Can I use Phantom LED lamps in my existing linear lighting system?
Where can I purchase Phantom LED lamps in my area?

Phantom low voltage cabinet lighting is designed for businesses and homeowners wanting to install display cabinet lighting.
Cabinets built by custom designers featuring fine finish and hand carved surfaces require the most seamless possible fit to avoid a visible fixture from detracting from craftsmanship and design. Our AC series strip lighting is perfect for this. It is designed for new build cabinets, so most of AC series customers are builders or cabinetmakers that order the strips pre-cut and physically build the fixture into the display.
For private commercial clients and homeowners looking to retrofit existing cabinets or add decorative flair to generic cabinetry, we carry a similar low voltage strip lighting for cabinets in our AE series. This cabinet light allows for greater flexibility with only slightly more visibility in the fixture itself. It is ideal for retrofitted installation onto existing shelves, and it can also dual function as a custom piece for new cabinets under construction.
The AC series does not provide total fixture concealment, but it is nonetheless can prove a highly decorative add-on to a plain or basic displays, and its many finish and color options can even add a slightly high-end touch to standard retail low voltage display cabinets. Lighting levels are controlled in both series with special glare shielding that prevents light “spillage” when viewed from either above or below eye level.
Both the AC series and AE series offer multiple lamping options, ranging from fluorescent to incandescent, on up to higher end xenon and state of the art LED light bulbs. The unique positioning of our smaller, festoon lamps makes for a more even “wash” of luminosity that creates both even distribution of photons and a more ambient light within the cabinet space itself.

We give every client a choice between 12 and 24-volt operation to accommodate the full range of power consumption needs and architectural designs we encounter. Above the low-end fluorescent lamps for clients on tight budgets, we pre-install our strip lights with 3, 5, and 10-watt incandescent lamps rated for 7500 hours, or, we fit them with Xenon lamps rated for up to 20,000 hours. We are also very pleased to announce the addition of LED lamps to the Phantom entourage. LED’s burn cool and use only 20% of the power compared to other bulb types. They are ideal for commercial applications heavily regulated by environmental legislation.
