What do you recommend as a low-heat light source for kitchen in-cabinet lighting?
We recommend an LED linear kitchen cabinet lighting fixture with a special patented festoon lamping design made only by Phantom Lighting. Our LED in-cabinet lights can be ordered in 2800K, 2900K, and 5000K color temperatures. Many builders and interior designers prefer the 5000K when it comes to lighting the Spartan absolutes of contemporary kitchens and marble countertops. Other, more warm and traditional interior designs look better under the near-xenon quality of the 2800K LED festoon lamp. The 2950K represents the mid-point of the color temperature range and is often used to highlight special types of glass ware and china. The choice of color temperature is a highly subjective one that should be made in consultation with the homeowner. We can provide detailed photographs upon request that you can show your clients so you can be certain that the fixtures and lamps you choose work best for their personal expectations.

How well do these in-cabinet lights work with other room lights?

Why have I only now heard about under cabinet led lighting?
Because for a very long time these fixtures had a hard time creating white light that could truly function as a replacement for incandescent sources. If you looked at a countertop lit by led under the cabinet light fixtures, you could almost immediately tell what they were. What are the different types of cabinet lights available?

By design, surface mount puck lights require exposed wires that may be appear unsightly to visitors. If sitting at tables, banquets or bar stools, one’s viewing angle changes and provides a clear view of these light sources. The only way to compensate for this is to install several of smaller puck lights in a series or consider using 12 volt home lighting.

Why do this if you can use a strip light?

In fact, with only rare exceptions, LED linear strip lights for under cabinet generally provide the best levels and distribution of light all around. Fluorescent under cabinet lighting will fit the bill in many respects, but they will also create glare and seldom come with dimmable functionality. We give every client a choice between 12 and 24-volt operation to accommodate the full range of power consumption needs and architectural designs we encounter. Above the low-end fluorescent lamps for clients on tight budgets, we pre-install our strip lights with 3, 5, and 10-watt incandescent lamps rated for 7500 hours, or, we fit them with Xenon lamps rated for up to 20,000 hours. We are also very pleased to announce the addition of LED lamps to the Phantom entourage. LED’s burn cool and use only 20% of the power compared to other bulb types.
