Decorative Accent Lighting

Order your decorative accent lighting DVD to learn more about Phantom Lighting accent lighting products.Decorative accent lighting covers a broad spectrum of fixtures and lighting applications too multitudinous to discuss in a single article.  What we want to focus on today is one of three specific forms of decorative home accent lighting that put the capstone, so to speak, on the many layers of custom interior lighting design.

The key point of differentiation between these three forms of decorative accent light and other similar accent lighting layer is the word custom.  In reality there are scores of generic fixture types that play a supportive, particularly decorative role in room lighting.  Such accent lighting fixtures can be something as simple as a miniature desk lamp or as ornamental as a colored pendant lamp suspended over a kitchen island.

As pretty as these lights are and as much charm as they add to a room, they are not the type of decorative accent lights that Phantom outputs to the world of design.  Our products are designed around strict parameters of specificity and are custom manufactured to the demands and even the very dimensions of their intended, individual environments.

Take fine art lighting for example.  Fine art is very sensitive and easily damaged by ultraviolet frequencies and infrared heat waves.   Sunlight is deadly to paintings, as are hot-burning incandescent lights.  Fluorescent lights should never go near a painting because the UV radiation in these bulbs is almost like that of the sun.  Special halogen lamps have to be used, and their light has to be filtered properly, before it can be properly illuminate a painting.

This only takes care of the safety requirement for plain visibility of the work.  You want to do more with your art than just allow people to see it.  Too much light will flatten its sense of perspective and wash out its colors.  Too little light will darken the scene with a gloomy shadow.  A beam of light that is too narrow will spotlight only a part of the painting with tunnel vision.  Too much light will spill onto the wall.

None of this will do justice to your collection.

What you need is a source of decorative low voltage accent lighting that can be aimed from precisely the right angle and perfectly adjusted to fit within the borders of the frame.  You want that light to emphasize the relationship of light and shadow that the artist established in the work itself. You also want that light to draw attention to the painting and not to the fixture itself.

Under no circumstances do you ever want equipment to visibly obtrude into a collection you have worked so hard to collect and arrange in your own private gallery.

Unfortunately, many lighting manufacturers of decorative accent art lighting often seem oblivious to the fact that clients simply want all of their desires met with a single piece of equipment.  Many appear to prefer to specialize in meeting one or two of these desires, but hesitant to meet them all.  Perhaps this is a reflection of our contemporary society’s fascination with micro-management and overspecialization.  No matter.  It’s not the way we do things here at Phantom.

What we do instead is combine precision technology targeted at meeting specific requirements with a multi-dimensional platform capable of delivering results as expected.  In the world of decorative accent lighting for fine art, nothing does the job better than a recessed Phantom lighting projector.

Available in five basic model designs suitable to any type of commercial or residential art lighting environment, each Phantom Contour Projector is further customized at the point of application to the specific ceiling type, gallery room size, and particular work of art it serves to illuminate.  It can even be adjusted to create the supple and complex interplay of light and shadow essential to sculpture lighting—a job that normally takes many different types of fixtures and more than a few lamps to accomplish.

The Contour Projector filters a beam of light that is easy to adjust—making it both safe and highly adaptive.   Finally, the Contour Projector is so low-profile you will never notice it hiding at the top of your ceiling, and you will not even see its light until it strikes the surface of your favorite canvas to produce a lighted from within effect that is unique even in the world of luxury lighting.

All things considered, it is clear why Phantom’s motto has always been, See the Light, Not the Fixture.
