Phantom Lighting is a pioneer, Houston-based art lighting company and low voltage lighting manufacturer established in 1981 to service the lighting and design community. Phantom Contour Projectors and Phantom strip lights feature lighting technology that is completely unique, 100% proprietary, and found nowhere else in the world of lighting. Phantom’s revolutionary approach to decorative picture lighting and low voltage display, shelf, and under cabinet lighting has taken it from humble origins to the level of an international leader in lighting manufacturing on two continents.
On a nationwide level, both lighting distributors and private individuals can obtain our products through lighting manufacturer representatives who work in each of the 50 states. On the international level, we have lighting manufacturer representatives in Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America, and website content in multiple languages. We specialize in high performance lighting products designed for low voltage adjustable display lighting and precision optical framing projectors for the illumination of art. The unique design and unparalleled performance of our products make them a favorite choice of architects, builders, interior designers and homeowners who expect only the very best money can buy.
The name “Phantom” provides the key to understanding the concepts behind our engineering design. In virtually every legend worldwide, Phantoms appear only briefly, or not at all. People often see, hear, and feel their effects without ever seeing a visible source. Our display lighting and recessed art lighting fixtures have this same intention in mind. They are not intended to be visible to the viewer, but to rather unobtrusively make the paintings and display contents that they illuminate more visible, distinct, differentiated, and showcased in a whole new light. Just like the ghosts of legend and popular documentary, it is almost impossible to see a Phantom Projector or Strip Light, but you always see and feel the effects of its presence. We have created fixtures that the eye cannot see with a special optical lens system that projects beams of light radiating from the powerful halogen light source.
Phantom Contour Projectors are ideal for highlighting fine art and sculpture by shaping the light to the exact contour of the object. In every major respect, Phantom Contour Projectors offer the most sophisticated technology and user-friendly control of any art lighting projector on the market. To begin with, every Phantom art projector light we offer is low voltage and is designed to save power as it stays on for extended periods of time.
We have six distinctive lines of art lighting projectors, one of which is exceptionally unique because it features the only remodel housing in the art lighting industry. This series can actually be fitted to existing building structures without cutting holes in the ceiling. Other fixture series are designed for either new construction projects, with easy mounting features, or in “float finish” or “zero sight line” designs, for those projects that require the fixture to be embedded into a ceiling and made flush by tape and bedding. Either scenario results in a seamlessly fitted, cylindrical art projector that inconspicuously and silently lights up sculptures and paintings with our proprietary and quite famous “lighting from within effect”.
Each Phantom fine art lighting projector is shipped with detailed installation instructions, a performance chart, and mounting specifications. We also include in every shipment condensing lenses, multiple projection lenses, and a universal focal cone to precisely adjust the light and accommodate the specific settings that private collectors and commercial gallery curators require for optimal results. Phantom Lighting Strips are custom manufactured to the exact dimensions of cabinets, bookcases, furniture and indirect cove lighting. They feature exclusive, patented low voltage lighting technology that conducts current like no other lighting fixture in the world. Instead of using exposed wires to conduct electricity, our low voltage Phantom adjustable lighting strips employ exposed metal shelf standards or concealed buss bars to conduct power to small bulbs that sit low to the surface of the lighting strip. This allows for easy movement of individual shelves without tools, specialists on call, or electrical shock hazard. Phantom is about lighting creations – not about seeing light bulbs. Therefore, we have six distinctive series of low voltage lighting strips designed to ensure that the light source is concealed from each viewing angle, no matter how severe. Whether you are using our standard incandescent lamps, xenon lamps or LED replacement lamps the results are spectacular!
Phantom technology is the ghost of the lighting machine for both commercial and residential clients who prefer to see the light, not the fixture, when showcasing their fine art and prized collectibles, products, and rare books. Phantom manufacturer representatives and lighting agents are available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America.
