John Singer Sargent

Among the most celebrated American painters of the late nineteenth century, John Singer Sargent was known for his dazzling watercolors. His portraits of society’s leading lights are now in museums around the world. He was also an accomplished painter of landscapes and architectural studies.

He traveled extensively in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. His murals for the Boston Public Library were widely recognized. He was the official war artist for Great Britain during World War I. He also produced over 2,000 watercolors.

His father, Fitzwilliam Sargent, was an eye surgeon in Philadelphia. His family had been one of the early colonial settlers in Massachusetts. His mother, Mary Newbold Singer, was the daughter of a successful merchant. During his childhood, Sargent’s family travelled across Western Europe. His parents taught him languages, mathematics, and music. In 1877, he began exhibiting his work in Paris salons.

Winslow Homer

During the nineteenth century, another of our great artists of watercolor, Winslow Homer, was considered the greatest American artist of all time. His paintings exhibited a sense of dramatic force and the awe-inspiring grandeur of nature. He possessed an intuitive knowledge of the watercolor medium, and his large body of watercolor works is considered to be some of the finest in the country.

In the 1870s, Homer began to paint landscapes and scenes of daily life in the American countryside. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Homer was interested in capturing local scenes rather than tourism sites. His subjects were usually women and working-class people. He studied art in New England, France, and Paris.

Tansu Ozmen

Throughout his life, Tansu Ozmen studied and practiced watercolor painting as a mentor to some of the most renowned international masters. As a result of his artistic training, he has exhibited his artwork in a number of solo and group exhibitions.

As an artist who uses a variety of mediums, he has experimented with transparency and luminosity. His paintings often depict houses in vibrant colors. In addition to being a fine artist, he is also an architect. He has taught watercolor workshops since 1973 and is a member of the American Watercolor Society. He has also illustrated for many magazines.

He was awarded the Grand Prix of the China Watercolor Exhibition and his work is stored in the National Museum of China. His works are often exhibited in Europe. His most famous painting, The Young Hare, is a prime example of his watercolor painting skills.

Elizabeth Murray

During her lifetime, Elizabeth Murray has traveled the world and painted watercolors. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work. She has also been included in more than sixty solo exhibitions around the globe.

Murray’s paintings are rendered in a vibrant and energetic style. They usually feature images of domestic objects. These images are animated by the recurring biomorphic shapes that form a characteristic of her work.

Many of her paintings were exhibited in prestigious museums. She was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York, and she received a number of other honors for her work. She was also awarded a Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement by the College Art Association.

Originally from Brazil, Eudes Correia now resides in Lisbon and works most of the time as a great artist of watercolor. His paintings are renowned for their realism and spontaneity. He has won numerous awards for his watercolor work. His most recognizable style focuses on painting people. His portraits are often very colorful and vivid.

He has been featured in a number of publications and has won several awards. His paintings are in private and museum collections around the world. He has also received signature status from the American Watercolor Society.

His artwork is shown in a number of galleries throughout France. His watercolors are unique in that they combine realistic still life with an impression of fine art photography. He aims to show simple things in a new light.

Reginal Marsh

Throughout his lifetime, Reginal Marsh produced hundreds of drawings and paintings. He is known for his depictions of the seedy side of New York’s nightlife. His style is best characterized as Social Realism. He used various mediums, including watercolor and oil. He is considered to be one of the most important American artists of the twentieth century. And certainly, worthy of our list of great artists of watercolor.

His first solo exhibition was held in 1924 at the Whitney Studio Club in New York City. He later received a gold medal for graphic arts from the National Institute of Arts and Letters.

Aside from his work as a painter, Marsh was an illustrator. He also served as artist correspondent for Life magazine during World War II. He was selected to do two murals for the new post office building in Washington DC.
