Recessed Art Projectors

At Phantom Lighting, our motto is “see the light, not the fixture,” and this is especially true for our series of recessed art lighting projectors. There are several reasons why designers and installers are opting for recessed art projectors instead of other forms of display lighting, but primarily because they add so much in terms of aesthetic without also adding visual pollution to the ceiling. Their light beam can also be shaped to fit any subject, giving them the ability to create a lit-from-within effect that no other fixture can match.
Recessed framing projectors are designed to be installed inside the ceiling, with only a cover plate and a small aperture providing any evidence that the fixture is there. When done right, they are virtually impossible to see, which preserves the home’s aesthetic. They are also built with excellent aiming capabilities, as their rotating ring and mounting cradle allow for near limitless vertical and horizontal aiming. With this versatility, the recessed art projectors can be offset to eliminate any glare and set in a position that will guarantee it remains concealed from view.
Compared to other traditional art lighting options, like track lights or surface-mounted projectors, recessed framing projectors are by far the most unobtrusive and aesthetically-pleasing option. We offer several housing models for our contour projector that simplify the installation process:
- New Construction (NC): An IC-rated model specifically intended for use prior to installation of sheet rock during the construction of a new building. All that is visible after installation is a small cover plate that can be painted to match the ceiling.
- Remodeler (RM): An IC-rated model designed for installation in existing structures. All that is visible after installation is a small cover plate that can be painted to match the ceiling.
- Float Finish (FF): An IC-rated model created for maximum concealment as this housing features a unique two-part cover plate that is designed to overlap ceiling material, providing a smooth surface. A removable center panel with oval slot and custom glare shield provides easy access and a zero sightline ceiling appearance. Though it requires an extra step in the installation, this is our most minimal and aesthetically-pleasing option.
Recessed art projectors or Contour projectors in remodeler housings are working together to light this framed original painting of Western art. The cover plates (the only visible element once properly installed) can be painted to match any ceiling for ultimate concealment.
Though a main selling point of Phantom projectors is their ability to blend into the ceiling, the real standout element is the focused light emitted from the optical projector within these recessed housings that can be shaped to fit any object. This is done by masking the light using adjustable shutters to contour the light eliminating any excess or spill light on the wall, ensuring only the subject perfectly is lit. With shaped light, the artwork will glow brilliantly against its darker surroundings, and visually appear as though it is lighted from within.
These sophisticated projector lighting products have steadily gained traction in high-end applications, and they can fit in any home, museum, gallery or venue.
